pjur going Down Under

pjur trains Australian retailers and presents its latest innovations.

Sydney/Australia, Wasserbillig/Luxembourg, November 2022.

pjur’s Katrin Kühnrich, Senior Key Account Manager Sales, and Sabrina Singh, Marketing Manager, spent almost two weeks in Australia visiting retailers, presenting the company’s latest innovations and training local teams. The highlight of the trip was the visit to “Sas in the City”, the in-house trade show of local sales partner Sugar & Sas.

pjur increasingly focuses on training

The itinerary over the two weeks took the pjur team from Melbourne (VIC) via Sydney (NSW), Byron Bay (NSW) and all the way to Gold Coast (QLD). As well as visiting various boutiques and retailers to train on-site teams on different topics, appointments with Sugar & Sas, the exclusive pjur sales partner in Australia and New Zealand, were also on the agenda for the pjur team. Sugar & Sas is the leading wholesale retailer for premium lifestyle products in Australia. They maintain their high standards by only working with the leading global brands. Over the course of the two weeks, the pjur team were given the chance to grow new contacts and extend existing contacts at the three-day in-house trade show “Sas in the City”.

New brand design and the latest innovations enthuse Australian retailers

Three important topics were the focus during the trip to Australia. Firstly, retailers were informed about the new European Medical Device Regulation, known as the MDR. This law is also relevant for Australia, as the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has fully aligned its new regulations for medical devices with the MDR. Many retailers are still not aware of the stricter rules for personal lubricants, and the majority welcomed the new rules as they guaranteed quality assurance for customers. In September, pjur was one of the first manufacturers of personal lubricants to become a medical device manufacturer certified according to the MDR. This means that pjur products can continue to be sold as “personal lubricants” after the transition period has expired in 2024 in Europe and Australia. This news was also received very positively: customary “Made in Germany” quality, now certified class IIb medical devices.

Secondly, the Australian retailers were enthusiastic about the new, modern brand design with new logo, claim, fresher colours and photos. The partners in Australia were also keen on pjur INFINITY, the premium personal lubricant in an elegant glass bottle. It’s the first product to show off the new brand design, and thus heralds pjur’s new direction. The Australian retailers felt that this new product upgraded the brand and was the best way for pjur to really set itself apart from the competition. As a result, pjur INFINITY will be given pride of place in several boutiques.

The visit and the new innovations presented all demonstrated that, with its high-quality product range and MDR certification, pjur is a perfect fit for Sugar & Sas and its premium lifestyle products. And in the future, it will play an important role on the Australian market.
